FAQs

What areas of the body can be treated?
Almost every area on the face and body can be treated, the only areas that cannot be treated are those areas which are mucous membrane such as inside the nostrils.

Is your treatment safe?
Yes, it is completely safe, and all patient supplies are sterilized using the hospital method -- ultrasonic cleansing followed by dry heat sterilization.

Is your method of hair removal natural?
Yes, multi-probe galvanic electrolysis uses a very small amount of negative current to create a chemical process within the hair follicle to destroy the hair permanently. Laser, thermolysis, and the blend method all utilize a high level of heat to burn the hair follicle in order to destroy and scar the hair producing cells, unlike the method I employ which is a natural electro-chemical process.

Does your treatment result in permanent hair removal?
Yes, the Modern multi-probe Galvanic method results in permanent hair removal. Once the hair is removed, it will never grow back.

Is your treatment painful?
The Modern Galvanic method uses a low level of current resulting in the least amount of discomfort compared to all other hair removal methods on the market today. I have personally had many clients actually fall asleep during treatment.

How exactly does the galvanic method work and keep hair from growing back?
Galvanic electrolysis uses a minimal negative DC current to cause chemical electrolysis to occur at the base of the hair follicle (the source of the growth). Under the influence of the galvanic current the salt-water in the base of the hair follicle ionize (it's atoms split apart). The water molecules (H2O) split apart into a hydroxyl ion (OH) and a hydrogen ion (H). The ions are unstable and tend to recombine with other ions. At the same time that the water molecules are breaking down, so also are the salt molecules. A salt molecule is composed of one sodium atom (Na) and one chloride atom (Cl), and during electrolysis it simply separates into a sodium ion and a chloride ion. All of the ions produced during electrolysis tend to reunite immediately. The chloride ions combine into stable pairs (Cl2) to form chlorine gas molecule. Likewise the hydrogen ions pair off to form hydrogen gas (H2). Both the chlorine gas and the hydrogen gas evaporate out the pour opening. Most important, each sodium ion (Na) combines with a hydroxyl ion (OH) to form sodium hydroxide (NaOH). More commonly known as soda lye which is highly caustic and it is this chemical that destroys the hair producing cells. The sebaceous glands produce sebum, an oily substance, which protects the upper follicle and the skin surface from the effects of the electrolysis. So it is a chemical process that kills the hair, not heat, not electricity.

In layman's terms, the negative DC current converts the salt water at the base of the hair follicle into soda lye which permanently destroys the hair cells -- it is a natural electro-chemical process that destroys the hair.

Are there any side effects to treatment?
No, medical research shows there are no lasting side effects related to true galvanic electrolysis.

Is there a healing period?
Only a minimum amount of current sufficient enough to create the chemical process which will destroy the targeted hair is used, resulting in slight irritation and redness which usually disappears within an hour. There are never any permanent marks or scarring unlike the other methods of permanent hair removal available.

How long before I see results?
The results are immediate and permanent, but keep in mind that not all of the hair in a problem area is present at the time of treatment, many hairs can be in their dormant state and cannot be treated until they appear.

Are you doctor referred?
Yes, I have had several clients recommended by local doctors.

Will you treat women from the transgendered community?
Absolutely. I have and do work on a great many transsexual women. You should understand that the removal of your facial hair can be one of the most expensive and lengthy processes during your transition. I will permanently remove your facial hair so that when finished you will never have to shave again and your vellus (the fine downy blonde hairs) hairs grow in and you will be left with a completely natural and most-importantly a scar free complexion. Please do not be fooled, laser and thermolysis will absolutely leave you scarred because of the methods and the amount of treatments that will be required.
